Description

The StarBBQ Rocket Stove Camper Box (STARBBQ-RSBBOX) is a twig-burning rocket stove built into a genuine military M2A1 .50 cal ammo can. It burns natural biomass like twigs and sticks and reaches over 1,100°F (593°C). It is meant for off-grid camping, overlanding, bushcraft and emergency kits.

The can is cold-rolled steel with its original airtight rubber gasket, so when it is closed it stays waterproof and dustproof. Setup takes under 60 seconds: fold out the stove, raise the collapsible chimney and drop the folding legs. The lid converts into a 15-1/2" x 11-1/2" steel side table for prep.

Closed, the box measures 12" L x 6-1/4" W x 8-3/4" H. Open, it is 24" long with an 11-5/8" chimney. It weighs 11.4 lbs.

Shipping & returns

Shipping & Delivery

All orders ship free to the 48 contiguous United States.

Larger (freight) shipments are curb-side only. A signature and possibly assistance may be required for unloading. We will work with you to arrange a delivery date and time, but the final details will be between you and the freight carrier.

IMPORTANT: ALL LTL DELIVERIES ARE CURBSIDE UNLESS WHITE GLOVE FEES ARE PAID. All reports of damage must be made within 3 business days after delivery.

Receiving Your Shipment

When the shipment arrives, please do the following:

  • Inspect every box carefully before signing. There is no such thing as damage that is too small: dents, tears, crushed corners, punctures, or scuffs should all be noted.
  • Take clear photos of any box that shows damage.
  • On the delivery receipt, write down exactly how many boxes have visible damage. If it is electronic, have the driver show you where to notate the damage. Before handing it back, take a photo of the document showing your notation.

After the driver leaves, please immediately open and inspect the items themselves. If you find any damage, contact us with the following:

  • A photo of the item unboxed with the damage visible
  • A close-up photo of the actual damage
  • A photo of the delivery document where you noted the box damage

These steps ensure we can file a claim quickly and get any replacement parts or items to you without delay.

Returns & Exchanges

Returns are accepted within 60 days of original purchase, in original packaging and unused, for a full refund minus a 15% Restocking Fee.

We recommend insuring products when shipping back to us. Returns will be rejected if the product is received damaged.

Solid Camper Stove

This rocket stove is pretty impressive. It's built like a tank, seriously, just like an ammo can. We took it camping last weekend and it heated up our kettle for coffee super fast with just a few twigs.

Great for emergencies

Bought this for our emergency kit and it's perfect. The military grade build gives me peace of mind and it's more efficient than I expected. Tested it a few times in the backyard and it's easy to get a good flame going.

Compact and Powerful

For its size, this rocket stove really puts out some heat. It's definitely portable, but I do wish the fuel feed opening was a tiny bit wider for bulkier wood pieces. Still, it's a solid piece of gear for the price.

My new go-to camp stove

Love this rocket stove for overland trips. Very sturdy and it's easy on fuel. Cooked a whole meal on it without much effort and it packed away easy.

Built like a tank

Sunstone nailed this one. The ammo can design is rugged, this thing can take a beating. I use it all the time now, fishing or just hanging out in the backyard.

Questions & answers

5 questions answered

Q
What warranty or support comes with the rocket stove?Asked by Sunstone Support Team
A
Coverage details are on our warranty page. If something goes wrong, contact us by email or phone and we'll help with troubleshooting, parts or a warranty claim.
Sunstone Metal Products support team
Q
Is it a pain to get the ash out of the rocket stove?Asked by Sunstone Support Team
A
No. Once it's completely cool, you just dump the ash out of the combustion chamber. A stiff brush helps with stubborn residue, and a damp cloth takes care of the outside. You don't need harsh chemicals, and they could damage the finish.
Sunstone Metal Products support team
Q
What's the stove itself made of? How durable is it?Asked by Sunstone Support Team
A
The outer shell is heavy gauge steel, which is what the military grade ammo can part refers to. The combustion chamber and cooking surface are typically high temp stainless steel, so it stands up to heat, rust and knocks. It's built to last for years of use.
Sunstone Metal Products support team
Q
How long does this rocket stove take to set up? Any tools needed?Asked by Sunstone Support Team
A
Usually less than a minute. Unlatch the ammo can, extend the combustion chamber and put in the fuel support. No tools needed.
Sunstone Metal Products support team
Q
Can I burn charcoal in this rocket stove, or just wood?Asked by Sunstone Support Team
A
It works best with small pieces of wood, twigs and other biomass, which is what makes a rocket stove so efficient. You could burn charcoal briquettes, but it won't burn as efficiently or as clean and you'll get more ash. Stick with wood for the best results.
